Village Drainage. After the recent incidents of surface water flooding in the Village, we continue to engage
with Anglian Water, SKDC and Lincolnshire County Council regarding the rainwater and foul water drainage
in the Village. Anglian Water have identified that there are faults with household surface water connections
erroneously flowing into the foul water network, which they are seeking to rectify. SKDC is investigating the
regular clearance of the culvert grill outside the Willows Care Home on Station Street and removing another
obstruction on the culvert entrance at the Station Street/Middle Street junction. LCC are clearing roadside
grill and other drains as identified by Fix My Street inputs. We continue to press for Anglian Water and LCC
to co-operate and arrange a clear out of the culvert under Station Street. Finally, SKDC have agreed to
provide the makings for 100 sandbags.
New Parish Councillor. We are delighted to welcome Mrs Jules Jones to the Parish Council. She has many
relevant attributes and wide experience which will equip her to undertake the duties of a Parish Councillor
We look forward to working with her.
Dog waste. Incidents continue to be reported of some owners allowing dogs to foul waste around the
Village. This is an unhygienic and unnecessary practice. All dog owners should retrieve and bag
their pets’ waste and dispose of it in one of the many bins around the Village. Residents can report incidents
of dog fouling to SKDC online, to identify dog owners who do not pick up waste after their dogs in public
places - https://pre.southkesteven.gov.uk/reportdogfouling.
Dog fouling is an environmental crime. The law allows SKDC Environmental Crime Enforcement Officers to
give anyone seen not clearing up after their dog an on-the-spot fine, a fixed penalty notice (FPN), currently
£100.
Vacancy for Parish Councillors. There are now two vacancies for Parish Councillors by co-option. This role
is stimulating and fulfilling but not onerous. We are seeking volunteers of any skills and background, who
think they could contribute to administering the Village. If you are interested in supporting your Village, and
would like greater information, please contact me. To be eligible, you must be over 18, on the electoral role
and have lived or worked within 3 miles of the Parish for at least 12 months.
Hospital Car Service. The HCS relies on volunteer drivers to effectively run the system and transport
patients to their medical appointments. For various reasons the HCS now requires replacement volunteer
drivers to efficiently administer the service. Drivers, who need to be properly insured, are fully recompensed
with a 65p a mile allowance. If you have the spare time and wish to volunteer for this very worthwhile support
role, please contact the scheme administrator, Chris Ross, on 07806 327362. Please note the HSC is for
personal medical related use only.
Allotments. The Parish Council maintains a number of allotments near the entrance to the Village off Station
Street. Tending an allotment is a healthy and relaxing way to grow cheaper and delicious produce. The plots
are available for rent to Rippingale residents only, at a reasonable cost. There is a thriving allotments
association which provides advice and assistance. Please contact the Parish Clerk for more detail.

th
, 11am to 3pm, Cost per

The group will be having a table to raise funds and there will be a range of refreshments available. We hope
we can follow up our successful Open Day last summer with another community-based event.
After a prolonged wet spell called “winter”, a new growing season is just around the corner with all its benefits
and challenges. At this stage we still have fruit and vegetables in the freezer, jams and chutneys in the
cupboard under the stairs, and of course, onions, garlic and red potatoes in the garage. We are fortunate that
we have access to allotment land that is relatively inexpensive and allows you to grow a range of fresh
produce and flowers for use at home.
If you don’t have a plot, live in Rippingale and are interested in starting your own patch, contact the
Rippingale Parish Council Clerk rippingalepc@gmail.com Tel: 07375 364742. There are some plots
available. (Rental agreements begin April 1st). Once you have your plot, you might want to join the Row
Garden Allotment Group and take advantage of several benefits associated with membership - such as
access to manure, chipping for pathways, rotovators, membership of the National Allotment Association with
benefits that include offers on seeds, plants and equipment and a quarterly Allotment Magazine. The group
also maintains the grass roadways on the allotments. All this for £10 a year. If you’re interested in joining the
group or would like an informal look at what’s available at the allotments, contact the RGAG secretary, Iain,

Coffee Morning. We were a little bit lower on numbers but this was to be expected as the weather was poor.
Now having said that we had a great time with loads of fresh produce off the Fen which was all sold. There
was plenty of fresh baking and not forgetting our pancakes being cooked on site by our talented “Tossers”
We have now in stock a self-propelled wheelchair, 3 wheeled Rollator various walking sticks. If by bad luck
you want to borrow or buy, they are available for a small donation.
So, many thanks to our regulars turning up, but also to some new faces. Everyone is assured a warm
welcome so please come along and experience all the goodies on sale.
Next Coffee Morning Tuesday 2nd April 10.15am in the Church.
Wow! There was a great turnout to our volunteers meeting and what made it so great we ALL wanted the
same thing. We now have a cleaning crew (12) who have already given the Church a very through clean, it
looks and smells fantastic. We have people wanting to organise functions, help with Churchyard
maintenance and other activities. There was a feeling within the gathering we all wanted to work together
and have a bit of fun at the same time. You can probably tell from my wording how excited I am about us
moving forward.
Now if you missed this meeting, it's never too late and would like to join us, please come along on Tuesday
26
th March 7.30pm in the Church there is coffee and biscuits also!!
If you would like to discuss anything of the above, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Rippingale & District WI report for 7
th March 2024. The 7th March turned out to be a chilly evening.
However, the members who attended were rewarded with an interesting talk by Mark Bamford the Chairman
of Sleaford Museum.
From its original inception in the 1980’s to 2015 the museum has had many different locations and at one
point nearly closed altogether whilst looking for a permanent site. Eventually the council offered the almost
derelict public toilets as a permanent location for the sum of £1 annual rent for a twenty-five-year lease.
With both a grant & various donations major work started to make the building fit for purpose. The story of
the transition made national news.
Completely run by volunteers the museum has welcomed over 200,000 since it’s opening in 2015. Displays
are made up of items that reflect the history of the local people & landscape of the Sleaford area including
the history of Sleaford Castle.
There is a website that gives more information including opening times.
After our refreshment break, competition winners were announced, birthday cards issued for April babies and
the raffle drawn.
The meeting on 4
th April will be our Annual meeting when the committee & President are elected for the
forthcoming year
Further information can be obtained about our friendly group at radwi@btinternet.com.
Rippingale & District Friendship Club. We had a very successful meeting on Wednesday 6th March. We
welcomed 8 guests who had come to see the demonstration of artificial flower arrangements given by Lesley
Rodgers. It was very interesting, and the results were stunning. There was a raffle for one of Lesley’s
creations plus our usual raffle. Tea and biscuits were served prior to our Bingo session. Everyone agreed
that it had been a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

• 17th April- Something Beginning with ..... This will hopefully get our old grey matter working. As it is
also St Georges Day, we will have a Red and White theme.
There will be three meetings in May, the 1st when we will be having Fish and Chips followed by Ice Cream.
Come dressed for the seaside.
• On 15th
- May we are having a Beetle Drive. We have a good laugh, although it can get quite
competitive at times.
• The 29th

up will be 8.15am from Billingborough Cross Roads. Then Rippingale, Morton at the usual pick-up points
