PARISH NEWS
December
Councillors have had a busy time over the past few weeks and there have been more changes to members as we welcome Chris Catt to the table. Chris has, amongst other skills, great experience in IT which will be a great asset to the Council.
Newsletter
We realise that many residents do not have access to on-line publications and apologise for the non-publication of last month’s newsletter. We thank Jamie Petch for his contribution to the parish over the past years and confirm that we now have a new editor who will take up the mantle of producing a “New Look” newsletter.
We do ask that residents try to attend our monthly Parish Council meetings, as it is there that your concerns can be aired and where we can get feedback to guide us in our future endeavours.
Hedge We continue to monitor the appearance of all hedges in the village and repeat our request that all residents continue to trim them where they border common areas such as footpaths etc. A reminder for agricultural and open area landowners to do the same to hedges and verges that border their lands.
Dykes
Black Sluice DB finally cleared the dykes throughout the village, and we are looking to see if this can happen more than once per year and at what cost (if any). Additionally, we have reminded some residents that it is their responsibility to clear and maintain dykes that run alongside or through their land.
We ask, once again, for your help in establishing who owns, or is responsible for the areas of land that are in and around our village so that we can approach them directly should it become necessary.
Flooding Risk
We are approaching the season where flooding could become an issue and ask that everyone be diligent in helping to keep dykes etc clear or advise Councillors that problems become apparent. Sand and bags are available at the Village Hall and Councillors have the access codes to the padlocks.
We continue to pressurise Anglian Water, Black Sluice DB, Lincolnshire CC and SKDC regarding the problem with the outflow capacity of the surface water and foul water drains, particularly along Station Street. Unfortunately, it seems that we may have to accept that the system cannot presently cope with heavy rainfall events. A reminder that the best way to get the attention of these agencies is for as many people as possible to submit complaints directly to them and by leaving reviews on Trustpilot if you have IT access. Your help in this matter is vital to us being able to get these agencies to deal with our issue without further delays and procrastination.
Playing Field Store
We are still in the process of obtaining quotations to remove the existing storage unit and for the provision of a replacement container. We repeat our request for anyone who may be able to assist in this project.
Christmas Tree
We thank all those that have offered help to erect a Christmas tree in the Church yard grounds this year. The switch-on (and carol singing) event is due to be held on 6th December at 6:30pm and everyone is invited. Hopefully, the weather will be kind, but we hope the Church will be available if it is against us.
Village Clubs/Activities
Apparently, many people in the village are not aware of the clubs and activities available within Rippingale, so we thought we’d list a few here:
• Gardening Club
• Photography Club
• Breakfast Club
• Yoga sessions in the Village Hall
• Short mat (indoor) bowls in the Village Hall
• Quiz night at The Bull Inn
• Bingo night(s) in the Village Hall
• Art Club
If you are interested in any (or all?) of these, or wishing to set up additional ones, please contact one of your Councillors who can provide support and contact details.

RIPPINGALE WI This month we were promised 'Reflections of Life in a Humorous Manner' and humorous it certainly was. Tim Stubbs grew up as the fourth son in the Stubbs family bakery in Thirlby. As a boy his job was to deliver the bread and cakes to people living locally and consequently, he came to know his customers very well and they certainly were characters! Evan after many years he can recall them and mimic them in their broad Lincolnshire accent, and he came to love them for their eccentricities. His stories had us laughing out loud because he is a wonderful raconteur. Surely, he must record his stories as a memory of bygone rural life in this part of Lincolnshire. After a break for tea or coffee and lovely cake, made by Beryl, and had time to chat we drew the raffle and distributed birthday cards. Our contributions were to our charity ACWW and to Bourne Food Bank to which our generous members donated Xmas food items.
Next month we will be having a Xmas dinner at the Five Bells in Morton. If you would like more information about our WI please ring Janet on 07552 699848 or go to our website radwi@ btinternet.com. Janet

CHURCH COFFEE MORNING
A really lovely turnout and a very big thank you to everybody for coming. The cakes and scones were incredible and all priced at a really give away cost. If you went to any cafe, prices would be 3 times greater and not of such freshness and quality. Plenty of vegetables on sale and so fresh.
An event not to be missed having a chat and catching up on the news. May I point out its not just for the Ladies for a good gossip, this last month there was a lot of Gentlemen as well, trying to put the world to rights so please come and join us we can’t do it on our own!!
NEXT COFFEE MORNING TUESDAY 3RD DECEMBER 2024 10.15AM
Obviously, this will have a Christmas theme.
200 CLUB
This month it was the official hand over from the old to the new. We are all very grateful to Christine for organising the 200 club over a number of years so a big thank you from us all. Julia Lister has very kindly stepped in to take over. As mentioned before this a very important part of the church and the income generated keeps the building ticking over etc.
REMEMBRANCE SERVICE
Having just come home it’s really a joy to report on the above service. It was not within our wildest dreams that so many people would come and join us on this special Sunday.(98 plus or minus or 2) A very big thank you to all, making the hard work which goes on behind the scenes all worthwhile. It was also rewarding that many of you stayed and had refreshments kindly provided by the Parish Council and then continued the socialising across the road!!!! I’m still buzzing.
NEXT SERVICES
All going well we hope to have our traditional Plough Sunday service at the start of January please keep an eye out for posters and on social media with all the details. It’s also possible that we may have a carol service again I will keep you posted on how we progress
