We monitor and audit the website using to keep it accessible in line with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. However, we know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- the text of some items maybe slightly difficult to read and overflow a single column when you change the size of the browser window
- you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
- many of the older documents in PDF are not fully accessible to screen reader software

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Some images do not have a text alternative. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). We plan to add text alternatives for all images by 1 June 2021. When we publish new content we will make sure the images meet accessibility standards.
Some graphics have text in. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.5 (Images of text). We plan to ensure all images are free from text by 1 June 2021
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
Some of the Rippingale Parish Council older PDF documents do not meet accessibility standards. We are working towards replacing as many PDFs as possible with HTML pages.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDFs, Excel or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
Our plan is to ensure that all essential PDFs are converted into an accessible format by 30 September 2021.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We are using Skilltide to continually identify and fix issues as they arise.
